Bulldog gridders earn accolades

Chelsea football players received postseason honors last month as the Southeastern Conference announced its all-league teams.

Bulldogs named to the All-Southeastern Conference White Division first team offense included junior running back Nick Hill (5-foot-8, 185 pounds), senior guard Joel Boyce (6-0, 205) and senior tight end Jake Mantel (6-4, 215).
Receiving All-SEC offensive honorable mention from Chelsea were senior lineman Jesse Jaynes (5-10, 195), senior lineman Tim Rosentreter (6-3, 280) and senior wide receiver Mike Lenneman (5-9, 165).
Named to the All-SEC White Division first team offense for Dexter was senior lineman Ben Harris (6-foot, 210). Receiving All-SEC honorable mention accolades for the Dreadnaughts were senior quarterback Andy Whitaker (6-1, 190), senior wide receiver Steve Muchmore (6-1, 180), junior lineman Ryan Wesley (6-2, 265) and sophomore running back Sequoyah Burke-Combs (5-10, 190).
Receiving All-SEC White Division first-team defensive honors from Chelsea were senior defensive back Scott Rhodes (5-10, 165), senior end Dakota Risner (6-0, 195), junior end Colton Waterbury (6-2, 215), senior linebacker Kyle Coburn (6-1, 205) and senior kicker Michael Roberts (6-1, 205).
Making All-SEC defensive honorable mention were Bulldog senior linebacker Chad Schiller (5-9, 190) and senior defensive back Randy Cox (5-10, 160).
Earning All-SEC White Division first team honors for Dexter was senior linebacker Chris Kotsones (5-11, 210). Named All-SEC White Division honorable mention for the Dreadnaughts were senior tackle Mike Swantek (6-3, 215), senior defensive back Travis Rize, junior linebacker Mason Mabry (6-1, 190) and junior defensive back Dillon Kipke (6-2, 185).
Others named to the All-SEC White Division offensive first team included Adrian junior quarterback Drew Collins, senior center Adam Barker (6-3, 265), senior tackle Cody Pinter and senior wide receiver Jerrod Dillon (6-6, 200). Senior running back Zack Galloway (6-2, 200), junior guard Kyle Connors (6-1, 245) and senior Ben Bagby (6-4, 180) were named first team from Tecumseh, while junior quarterback Andrew Dillon (6-4, 200) and junior lineman Eric Davis earned first-team accolades from Ypsilanti Lincoln.
Named All-SEC honorable mention on offense were junior lineman Terrance North from Lincoln, Tecumseh senior running back Zack Noack (6-0, 210) and senior quarterback Drew Simpson (5-11, 180) and Adrian senior lineman Andrew Kapnick, senior running back Undra Peterson and junior lineman Andrew Rothen also earned All-SEC honorable mention status.
Making All-SEC first team on defense from Adrian were senior defensive back Nick Galvan, senior end Dylan Farrington (6-5, 235), senior defensive back Markice Frederick and junior linebacker Greg Glaser (6-1, 235) were also named first team. Senior defensive back Julius Kidd and senior tackle Terrence Radcliff were selected from Ypsilanti Lincoln, while senior linebacker Dan Easterday (5-11, 165) was chosen from Tecumseh.
Named All-SEC honorable mention defensively was Tecumseh senior defensive back Dane Grimm (5-10, 160), Lincoln junior defensive back Brandon Farrel and junior linebacker Ryan Bottorff and Adrian senior defensive back Tyler Graham and junior linebacker Brooks Sutherland.
In the SEC Red Division, making the first team offense were Saline senior quarterback Nick Moeller (6-3, 195), senior running back Travis Owen (6-0, 190), senior wide receiver Evan Kourtjian (5-10, 150) and senior lineman Chris Dubois (6-1, 260). Ann Arbor Pioneer senior quarterback Nader Fuurha (6-1, 185), senior wide receiver Ricky Griffin, junior lineman Esham Farha (6-4, 250) and junior lineman Jimmy Spaly (6-4, 235) also made the first team. From Temperance Bedford, senior running back Doug Harmon (6-0, 195) and junior center Mason Cole (6-4, 245), along with Ann Arbor Huron junior wide receiver Jeremy Jackson (6-4, 190), senior lineman Ebube Nnodim (6-2, 230) and senior running back Nate Scott (5-5, 170) also were selected for the first squad.
Making All-SEC honorable mention offensively were Huron senior quarterback John Heaton (6-1, 185) and Saline junior lineman Alex Zeiher (6-0, 185) and senior wide receiver Cord Trott (6-0, 165). From Pioneer, sophomore running back Jeron Clayton, senior wide receiver Jon Wade, junior wide receiver Brandis Yarrington, junior kicker Don Strite and junior wide receiver Mark Hugan made honorable mention, while from Bedford senior quarterback Nate Davis (5-11, 195), senior wide receiver John Harmon (6-1, 190), junior lineman Nate Kresge (6-3, 290), senior lineman Zack Shepherd (6-2, 190), senior punter Joe Martin (5-9, 170) and junior running back T.J. Romijn (5-10, 160) also received honorable mention accolades.
Selected for the All-SEC Red Division first-team defense were Saline senior lineman Jake Feldkamp (5-10, 210), senior linebacker Matt Price (6-3, 230), senior linebacker Gabe Helmuth (6-1, 205) and senior defensive back Brad Guenther (5-9, 165). From Pioneer, senior lineman Shawn Sinawe, senior linebacker Kurt Lymburner, junior kicker Jeremy Ross and defensive backs Yarrington and Griffin, along with Huron senior lineman Justice Akuezue (6-3, 210) and Bedford senior lineman Nick Whitenberg (6-3, 195), junior linebacker Steve Rowland (6-1, 185) and senior defensive back Josh Sedlar (6-2, 170) also made the first team.
Receiving All-SEC honorable mention honors were Saline's senior lineman Ryan Nowatzke (6-5, 220), junior defensive back Mark Sheridan (5-7, 160) and junior linebacker Matt Needham (5-9, 180), along with Pioneer's junior lineman Omari Robinson, junior lineman Chris Briggs, junior linebacker Kirby Lee and junior defensive back Bailey Paull-Baird. From Huron, senior linebacker Phil Mathew (6-1, 225), junior linebacker John Helvie (6-2, 180), senior defensive back Brian Yang (6-0, 185) and junior lineman Andrew Gleichert (6-4, 205), along with Bedford senior linebacker Tyler Smith (6-1, 175), senior defensive back Jake Howard (5-10, 160) and senior defensive back Shane Sulier (5-11, 155) also earned honorable mention status.
