Road meeting

The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will hold a public information meeting for the bridge replacement project located at Dexter-Pinckney Road over Portage Lake Outlet in Dexter Township. The public information meeting will be held in the Dexter Township Hall, 6880 Dexter-Pinckney Road from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18
The existing bridge on Dexter-Pinckney Road has been awarded funding for replacement through the Michigan Department of Transportation Local Bridge Program. Construction is currently scheduled to take place in the summer of 2010. The meeting will include a brief presentation at 6 p.m. and will be followed by an open house format, providing individual citizens with the opportunity to discuss the proposed project with WCRC staff and the WCRC design consultant.

'Around Town with Linda'
"Around Town with Linda" will feature Tom Turek, winner of the 2008 Port Huron to Mackinac Yacht Race, beginning today. "Around Town with Linda" features interviews conducted by the local host Linda Meloche.
The show airs daily on Channel 18 at 7:30 a.m., noon, 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
A new interview begins every Thursday evening and runs for a week. The guests all live or work in Chelsea, and everyone connected with the show is a volunteer.
Previous shows are available at McKune Memorial Library.
Correction
Regarding a story in our Aug. 7 edition, the Yankee Air Museum does not offer free rides in their B-17 and B-25 aircraft to World War II veterans; the cost is $425 just like other passengers, but veterans do receive a medal and certificate of appreciation for their military service at no charge.
Library closed on Sunday
The McKune Memorial Library will be closed Sunday for computer system maintenance. The library will reopen on Monday.
Pistol license class
The Chelsea Rod & Gun Club is hosting a class to obtain a license to carry a concealed pistol.
The class will take place in two sessions: the "First Step" portion will be held from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 15, and the second part, on the target range, will follow on Sept. 20 beginning at 9 a.m. until all participants have finished.
Cost of the class is $100 for club members and $150 for non-members.

Breast cancer fund-raiser
A fundraiser for a Breast Cancer Three-Day walk will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Big Boy restaurant on Zeeb Road.
The proceeds will help support the search for a cure for breast cancer, but supports can also donate to the Pink Lifesavers at www.the3day.org. Those with questions can call Lori Delhey at 734-426-3606.
Grass Lake Harvest Festival
The Grass Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual Grass Lake Fall Harvest Festival on Sept. 20.
This event will include a farmer's market and antique tractor display, the eighth annual Michigan's Center for the Photographic Arts Fall Focus Festival children's program, live entertainment and an Arts and Crafts Show in the village, a classic car show, Halloween Weekend at Apple Creek Campground, and Business Carnival at Farmer's State Bank.

Class of 1958 reunion
The Chelsea High School Class of 1958 is planning its 50-year reunion for the weekend of Sept. 19 to 21. This was the final class to graduate from the original Chelsea High School on Harrison Street that was later demolished.
Reunion activities and communication can be found at chelseaclassof58.blogspot.com. The April 1 posting lists the reunion activities.
