Joanne L. Wallace
Chelsea
Joanne L. Wallace of Chelsea passed away at the Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia on June 21, 2008. She was 77.
She was born the daughter of Joseph and Amanda (Lambarth) Wallace on March 27, 1931 in Grosse Pointe. Joanne loved art, animals, politics and games that challenged her mind.
She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Peitz of Bingham Farms, Mich.; nephews David Peitz of Montana, Donald (Cynthia) Peitz of Fenton, Mich.; along with her grandnephews Earl, Tristan, Trevor, Travis Peitz and her grandniece Chelsea Peitz. Also surviving are her good friend, Patty Durham, and her faithful dog, Boomer.
A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 12 p.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Pastor Doris Sparks officiating. A private burial will take place at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice organization of your choice.
Clinton B. Fisk
Manchester
Clinton B. Fisk of Manchester died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor following a two-month battle with complications from asthma and emphysema. He was 74.
He was born in Clinton, Mich. on Nov. 2, 1933, son of Harold W. and A. Evelyn (Bowie) Fisk. Clinton was a resident of Manchester, graduating from Manchester High School in 1952.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Fuller) Fisk, whom he married on Sept. 20, 1958 at Emanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church (now Emanuel United Church of Christ), Manchester.
Also surviving is his grandson, Bradley Michael Fisk of Addison, Mich. and a granddaughter, Shelby Marie Fisk; daughter-in-law, Christine A. Fisk of Holiday, Fla.; step-grandsons, Larry Angelocci of Tampa, Fla. and Staff Sgt. Brian (Michelle) Kupsov of Colorado Springs, Colo.; step-great-granddaughters, Amanda and Aubrea; sisters, Barbara (James) Brown of Clinton, Mich. and Margery Hucke of Fishers, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Elaine Fuller of Lula, Ga. and Mary (Douglas) LeFevre of Eden, Ga.; former daughter-in-law, Patricia (George) Merriman of Addison, Mich., and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Fisk; his in-laws, Russell and Imo Fuller; and his only son, Michael, who died in April 2006.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Clinton's life will be held at West Side United Methodist Church, 900 S. Seventh St., Ann Arbor, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 with the Rev. Tracy Huffman officiating.
Robert E. Ware
Scio Township
Robert E. Ware passed away June 15, 2008 at his home. He was born Oct. 2, 1926 in Ann Arbor, the son of Thornton E. Ware and Evelyn L. Besch Ware.
After moving to Dexter in September 1939, Mr. Ware started school and helped on the farm until graduating from Dexter High School in June 1944. He served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps in 1944 and 1945, attended Michigan State College and graduated in June 1950 with a degree in Forestry.
Mr. Ware was married to Hannelore A. Hochlenert of Edingen, Germany on Feb. 25, 1955 at the Bethlehem Evangelical Church in Ann Arbor by the Rev. Walter Press. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 2001.
He was employed in Oregon, Idaho, Ohio, and the Washtenaw County area for 42 years. His hobbies were flying, gardening, farming, reforestation, classic and antique aircraft, and American Civil War history.
He is survived by a niece, Katherine J. Ware R.N. of Muncie, Ind.; Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Remains will be interred at Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements by Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Dexter.
Frederick Stanley Clements
Chelsea
Frederick Stanley Clements of Chelsea passed away at the Chelsea Retirement Community on June 23, 2008. He was 90.
He was born Feb. 24, 1918 in Bardstown, Ky., the son of William Boone and Susan Celeste (Burch) Clements. Stan had lived in the Chelsea area for the past nine years, moving from Kalamazoo.
He was self-employed as a modernization contractor in the Detroit area. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby, as well as playing Scrabble. Stan served in the United States Army during World War II.
On Sept. 22, 1942 he married Juanita Tucker, and she preceded him in death in 1982. On Oct. 3, 1992 married Ida Oates, and she survives. Also surviving are his three children, William Clements of Bloomfield Hills, Margaret (John) McNeil of Paw Paw, and James (JoAnn) Clements of Livonia; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and one sister, Dorothy Crowe of Westland.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his eleven siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chelsea Retirement Community Heritage Foundation.
Virginia Perry
Dexter
Virginia Perry of Dexter passed away at home surrounded by her family on June 18, 2008. She was 85.
She was born the daughter of Peter and Luella (Hampton) Folts on Feb. 18, 1923 in Whitmore Lake. On March 9, 1943 she married Van L. Perry, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1987.
Faith, family and friends were most important to Virginia. She also loved to travel, cook large meals for the entire family and spend time with her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her children, Bernard (Linda) Perry of Coral Springs, Fla., Louis Perry of Torrance, Calif., Penny (Doug) Trinkle of Dexter, Violet (Ken) Johnston of Chelsea, Mary Perry-Wilkerson of Dexter, Connie (John) Brigham of Mesa, Ariz., Lenny (Gary) Kircher of Dexter, Joe (Paula) Perry of Chelsea and Carol (Ron) Josephson of Dexter.
Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Donald (Norma) Folts of South Lyon, many nieces and nephews and special friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Perry, son-in-law Richard Boff, and her eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Shekinah Christian Church on Scio Church Road with Pastor Barbara Yoder officiating. Billie S. Baughman
Chelsea
Billie S. Baughman of Chelsea passed away at his home surrounded by his family on June 19, 2008. He was 82.
He was born the son of John W. and Pearl L. (Luke) Baughman on March 10, 1926 in Preston, Miss. On March 1, 2006 in Chelsea he married Annie S. Baughman, and she survives.
Billie was a life member of the Masonic Lodge in Ypsilanti. He was the founder of the Men's Club at the North Lake United Methodist Church, where he was a member. He was an avid e-mailer to all his children and grandchildren. Faith and family were most important to Billie.
In addition to his wife, Billie is survived by his biological children, Anna Heater of Ypsilanti, Jene (Leonora) Baughman of Commerce, Mich. and Annette (Gary) Weeks of Chelsea. Also surviving are his grandchildren William Baughman, Richard Heater Jr., Wesley and Adrianne Baughman, Shannon Kent; and great-grandchild, Madison Kent, as well as 17 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren. Billie is also survived by his stepchildren, Roger (Carolyn) Olds, Rhonda (Roger) Colthorp, Randall (Penelope) Olds, all of Milan, and Roblee (Carol) Olds of Coppell, Texas, Wayne (Kathy) Luke, Charles (Wanda) Luke, all of Preston, Miss., Frankie (Sarah) Luke and Lesia (Olen) Boswell, all of Philadelphia, Miss.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Margie (Luke) Baughman, his second wife, Marilyn (Olds) Baughman, as well as a granddaughter, Teresa Heater.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the North Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alice Sheffield officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the North Lake United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday
