The location of the event is typically not announced until the date of the event, Smith said, but last year's event took place at Oakland University. Each participant walks 20 miles per day for three days, and is required to raise $2,200 in donations.
To help them reach that goal, the women have organized number of fund-raising events.
For the first one, a benefit golf outing on June 21, golfers, sponsors and gift donations are needed.
It will take place at the Waterloo Golf Course, 11800 Trist Road, Grass Lake. Registration is 8:30 a.m., with shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Donation is $50 per person, which includes 18 holes and cart; bagels, sweets and coffee; hot dogs and chips at the turn; burgers, baked beans and potato salad at the "19th hole;" prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Various businesses in Chelsea, Gregory and Stockbridge have already made gift certificate donations.
To sign up, see Debbie Fusina at the Country Pub in Gregory, or contact Linda Smith at 734-552-0999.
