Benefit yard sale

A large benefit yard sale will take place on Friday and Saturday

All proceeds will be sent to the Central Asia Institute, whose mission is to promote and support community-based education, especially for girls, in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The nonprofit institute was founded by mountaineer Greg Mortensen and has helped fund the construction of more than 50 schools in remote villages in that region.

The yard sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 1120 N. Freer Road in Chelsea.

Greenview golf outing

The Greenview Foundation is planning its first charity golf outing for Saturday at Reddeman Farms Golf Club, 555 S. Dancer Road.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Cost is $100 per player, which is tax deductible. There will be prize giveaways and raffle prizes

The Greenview Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research into Hepatitis C at the University of Michigan.

Please make checks payable to "Greenview Hepatitis C Fund" and mail to Greenview Data, 8178 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103, or pay online at www.hepcfund.org.

For more information on entry or sponsorship opportunities or for questions, please call Ted Annis at 734-426-7500 or e-mail tannis@spamstopshere.com.

Radio swap meet

The Chelsea Amateur Radio Club will hold its 30th annual Ham and Antique Radio Swap on Sunday at the Chelsea Fairgrounds.

Doors open to the public at 8 a.m. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and up and free for those younger than 12.

Door prizes will be given away every hour, and the grand prize is a mobile amateur radio receiver.

The annual swap meet is the major source of income for the nonprofit club, which is active with local law enforcement agencies and the National Weather Service to maintain emergency communications in case of natural or man-made disasters.
