The route will wind its way from Middle Street to Main to Park streets, back to Middle, then end at Oak Grove Cemetery for a traditional ceremony with guest speakers giving tributes to veterans.
Legion fund-raiser
Following the parade in downtown Chelsea, the public is invited to Herbert J. McKune American Legion Post 31 for a Memorial Day celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. May 26 at the post, 1700 Ridge Road on Cavanaugh Lake.
There will be a cash bar for food and refreshments, and the menu includes hot dogs, bratwurst, potato salad and chips. Proceeds will raise money for the post's operations.
A colors retirement ceremony is also planned. Bring your old or worn-out flags to be properly disposed of.
High school open house
The community is invited to an open house for retiring Chelsea High School Principal Ron Mead.
This casual event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the high school commons area.
Bring good stories and best wishes to celebrate Mead's 19 years in education here in Chelsea.
Radio swap meet
The Chelsea Amateur Radio Club will hold its 30th annual Ham and Antique Radio Swap on June 1 at the Chelsea Fairgrounds.
Doors open to the public at 8 a.m. Admission is $5 for ages 12 and up and free for those younger than 12.
Door prizes will be given away every hour, and the grand prize is a mobile amateur radio receiver.
The annual swap meet is the major source of income for the nonprofit club, which is active with local law enforcement agencies and the National Weather Service to maintain emergency communications in case of natural or man-made disasters.
Year-end school concerts
Fifth- and sixth-graders at South Meadows Elementary will perform end-of-year concerts at the Chelsea High School auditorium.
The choir will perform on June 2, the band on June 3 and the orchestra on June 5. All performances will take place at 7 p.m.
