Chelsea wins Portland invite

Chelsea's boys' tennis team captured the Portland Invitational last Saturday finishing first overall with 19 points.

Placing second was Hudsonville Unity Christian with 11 points, while Portland and Jackson Lumen Christian tied for third with nine points each.
In singles play, Bulldog Josh Stiles finished second at the No. 1 flight.
At No. 2 singles, Reece Hammer was second for Chelsea.
At No. 3 singles, Chris Tapping placed first for the Bulldogs.
Kin Tsang was second at No. 4 singles for Chelsea.
In doubles, the Bulldog duo of Stephen Tapping and Eric Dudek finished first at the No. 1 flight.
At No. 2 doubles, Chelsea's George Merkel and Chris LaDuke placed third.
At No. 3 doubles, Bulldogs Sean Dzobel and Dolan Personke finished first.
Wesley Fritzemeier and Nate Ripberger ended up first at No. 4 doubles for Chelsea.
Last Thursday, the host Bulldogs lost to Ann Arbor Pioneer 8-0.
Also last week, Chelsea defeated Adrian 8-0.
Winning in singles for the Bulldogs were Stiles at No. 1, Hammer at No. 2, Chris Tapping at No. 3 and Tsang at No. 4.
In doubles, picking up wins for the Bulldogs were Stephen Tapping and Dudek at No. 1, Merkel and LaDuke at No. 2, Dzobel and Personke at No. 3 and Fritzemeier and Ripberger at No. 4.
Chelsea next hosts Ypsilanti Lincoln Thursday at 4 p.m.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs travel to Trenton to participate in its invitational at 8 a.m.
On Monday, Chelsea will visit Jackson County Parma Western for a match at 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs will travel to county rival Dexter for a match at 4 p.m.
JV Tennis
Last Saturday, the Bulldogs' JV boys' tennis team finished as co-champions of their own tournament. Chelsea tied with Pinckney for the tournament crown.
Earning gold medals for the Bulldogs were Josh Moffit at No. 2 singles, David Stratman and Reid Mauti at No. 2 doubles and Lance Hammer and Victor Rozsa at No. 3 doubles.
