Bulldogs eighth at Hastings meet

Chelsea's boys' track and field team finished eighth at the Hastings Invitational last Saturday.

The Bulldogs recorded 26 points.
"We competed at the prestigious Hastings Relays and ran up against some top-notch competition," said Chelsea coach Eric Swager.
In the shot put relay, Adam Bauer and Sam Dyer combined for third place with a heave of 86-feet, six inches.
Peter Wilke and Landon Niesen finished fourth in the pole vault with a combined height of 22-6.
Sam Birgy and Josh Rudd had a combined discus length of 213-7.
Cody Adams and Branden French teamed for a long jump total of 35-6.
Teddy Eyster, Evan Carpenter, Nick Hewitt and August Pappas finished fourth in the distance medley relay with a time of 11:26.3.
Eyster, Pappas, Hewitt and Wilke placed fourth in the 6,400-meter relay in 19:24.
Dominic Conybeare, Ryan Patrick, Riley Feeney and Wilke placed sixth in the 3,200-meter relay with a clocking of 8:56.9.
"Highlighting the meet was the performance of the distance runners," Swager said. "Four of them (Wilke, Pappas, Hewitt, Conybeare) all had lifetime bests on this day, while Teddy Eyster was within one second of his best. They have been working hard and I am excited that they are getting positive results from their races."
Brad Ratliff, Kevin Rosentreter, Adams and Feeney crossed the line sixth in the sprint medley relay in 1:41.5.
In the shuttle hurdle relay, Mason Borders, Travis Ostrowski, Justin McGrath and Ratliff stopped the clock in 1:05.9.
Adams, Ratliff, Rosentreter and McGrath had a 1:35.1 in the 800-meter relay.
French, Ostrowski, Borders and Niesen finished in 48.6 in the 400-meter relay.
In the 1,600-meter relay, Rosentreter, Ratliff, Conybeare and Patrick recorded a 3:47.7.
On April 15, host Chelsea lost to Adrian 85-52.
"The Maples dropping down from the SEC (Southeastern Conference) Red Division and MHSAA Division 1 from last year, were talented across the board and looked sharp in their season debut," Swager said. "I am impressed with the breadth of their talent. They have very few weak spots and where they are strong, they are very strong."
In the shot put, Bauer was first with a throw of 43-9, while Dyer was second with a 41-7.
Birgy placed third in the discus with a toss of 116-2, while Rudd was second with a 125-6.
Nick Hill was first in the long jump with a leap of 19-3.
Wilke was third in the pole vault with a mark of 11-6.
McGrath was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.6, while Ratliff was third in 16.4.
McGrath was first in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.1.
Hill was second in the 100 meters in 10.98, while Adams was third in 11.4.
Hill placed second in the 200 meters in 23.8.
Rosentreter was third in the 400-meter run in 54.7.
Carpenter was second in the 800-meter run in 2:17, while Patrick was third also in 2:17.
Hewitt crossed the line second in the 1,600-meter run with a clocking of 4:48.
Hewitt was first in the 3,200-meter run in 11:02, while Geoff Smith-Woolams was second in 11:12.
The 400-meter relay foursome of Hill, Ratliff, Adams and Rosentreter stopped the clock in 45.2.
Brandon Seagraves, Joey Newland, Bobby Beneteau and Jacob Lotz finished in 1:42.0 in the 800-meter relay.
Wilke, Feeney, Eyster and Hewitt recorded a 9:34 in the 3,200-meter relay.
"We have many young athletes just learning how to perform," Swager said. "This will serve as an eye-opening experience for them as to how to perform at the highest level. We will keep working, getting more fit and improving as the season goes on."
Chelsea next visits Mason to participate in its invitational Friday at 3:30 p.m.
