Dexter's girls' track and field team is peppered with talent throughout its line-up this season. Dexter returns numerous top performers from last year's Southeastern Conference White Division championship squad.

"We want to defend our title," said Dexter coach Chris Hanlon, entering his fourth season. "We lost quite a bit of talent off of last year's team, but our state meet potential should be greater this year."
The Dreadnaughts will need to replace sprinter Amy Roberts, hurdler Kelsey Wilson and pole vaulter and sprinter Bailey Wandyg. Wandyg is now vaulting at Western Michigan University.
Leading Dexter this season will be one of the area's best pole vaulting contingents. Junior Becca Pilkerton finished second at last year's Division II state meet and should have a breakout season in 2007. Junior Carly Dalton, a state qualifier last year, and junior Christine Murray round out the talented trio.
In the long jump, the Dreadnaughts will be paced by senior Chantel Jennings, senior Jackie McNally and sophomore Stephanie Ward.
"That's a pretty strong group," Hanlon said.
Junior Sherri Gamble will be Dexter's best high jumper, while senior Laura Van Voorhis, senior Rachel Moir and junior Leah Gibson will score points in the throws for the Dreads.
In hurdles, junior Sheree Christian will be a standout. Also making an impact for Dexter in the event will be Jennings, McNally and Pilkerton.
Leading the pack in distance events for the Dreadnaughts will be senior Jessie Vickers, senior Melany Mioduszewski and junior Ellen Riehle.
In sprints, junior Mari Couasnon, senior Laura Merz, Ward, Murray and Christian will be among the area's fastest.
