Beach ends year with win

Chelsea's Beach Middle School seventh-grade Blue volleyball team concluded its season defeating visiting Saline Blue 25-17, 25-21, 15-25 March 13.

"The girls played the very best match of the season," said Chelsea coach Linda Turok. "I am very proud of them."
Megan Brockett and Jill Schmidt led the Bulldogs (5-5) with five service points each. Schmidt also had one ace. Lisa Keene and McKenna Jerant each added four service points, while Tessa Elwart and Jessica Craig each had three service points for Beach.
Alexis Romelhardt, Anna Friss and Morgan Gavorek each finished with two points, while Danielle Dahl, Nicole Schmelz, Lauren Lyons and Haleigh Zimmerman each had one service point for Chelsea.
Schmelz ended up with a team-high five assists, while Elwart had three assists and Katie Wollpert and Brockett each had two assists. Briana Carden, Jerant and Craig each added one assist.
On March 12, host Chelsea lost to Tecumseh 13-25, 20-25, 11-25.
Brockett paced Beach with 12 service points and one ace. Schmelz had five service points, while Craig had four service points and Carden three service points.
Keene ended up with two points, while Lyons, Gavorek and Elwart each had one point for the Bulldogs.
Chelsea's Beach Middle School's seventh-grade Gold volleyball team lost to visiting Saline Gold 15-25, 21-25, 19-25 last Thursday.
"We played better in the second and third games," said Chelsea coach Rahn Rosentreter.
Leading the Bulldogs, who concluded their season with a 3-7 overall record, were Grace Martin, Amber Plemens and Taylor Van Riper.
On March 13, Beach lost to host Adrian White 25-21, 8-25, 14-25.
"We played the best game of the year in the first game, but couldn't seem to keep it going," Rosentreter said.
