DeVol earns school award

Chelsea Schools Board of Education Trustee Sally DeVol was among seven school board members in Washtenaw County to earn awards recently from the Michigan Association of School Boards.
DeVol received a Certified Board Member award for successfully completing nine leadership training classes as well as conference attendance, years of service and local leadership activities.
Kiwanis Easter egg hunt
The Chelsea Kiwanis Club, in conjunction with Chelsea High Key Club, will host its 15th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at the Chelsea Retirement Community on West Middle Street.
The Easter Bunny will make an appearance starting at 9:45 a.m. He will start each of the age groups starting at 10 a.m. with the youngsters 3 and under in the court in the middle of the complex. At 10:10 the hunt for ages 4 to 7 will be held on the side lawn, and at 10:20 the hunt for ages 8 and up will take place in front of the home.
More than 2,500 plastic eggs will be scattered around the Methodist Home grounds. The eggs are filled with soft candy and there are special prizes for each age group.
Children should check the eggs before leaving to see if they have won a special prize.
There will be containers available for recycling the plastic eggs.
Mill Creek Council meeting
The 43rd annual meeting of Mill Creek Research Council will be 7:30 p.m. March 27 at the Lima Township Hall.
This is an open meeting and all are welcome to attend. The council's executive board will be elected at the meeting.
The council's mission statement is "to preserve open space, rural character, and natural resources in the Mill Creek area."
This year the Mill Creek Research Council will support student research work from Eastern Michigan University's Department of Biology.
Secretary of State to visit
Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is scheduled to be the guest speaker at a Western Washtenaw Republican Committee "town hall" meeting at 10 a.m. March 29.
The meeting will take place in Building 100 at the Washington Street Education Center.
Chelsea Mayor Ann Feeney is expected to introduce Secretary Land.
