Chelsea's boys' basketball team captured a Class B state district title defeating Carleton Airport 77-36 last Friday at Brooklyn Columbia Central.
The district crown is the Bulldogs' second in a row. Chelsea also has won three consecutive Southeastern Conference White Division championships.
"We were able to get off to a good start," said Chelsea coach Robin Raymond. "We forced a lot of turnovers with our full court defense. That set the tone for the rest of the game."
The Bulldogs (22-1) forced eight turnovers in the first quarter, jumping out to a 16-4 lead.
At halftime, Chelsea increased its advantage to a commanding 42-13.
Entering the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs led 62-29.
In the fourth frame, Chelsea outscored the Jets (8-12) 15-7 for the night's final margin.
"They relied on their inside game, so we tried to force a full court game and not allow them to set-up their half court offense," Raymond said. "We shot the ball well from the floor. The kids are looking for the extra pass and finding the open man."
Raymond emptied his bench early in the third quarter.
Senior forward Micah Hudson led the Bulldogs with 19 points, including three triples, six rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Adam Connell finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

At the break, the Bulldogs led 43-15.
Heading into the fourth quarter, Chelsea increased its lead to 66-22.
Despite the lopsided win, Raymond said his team remained focused throughout the contest.
"I was pleased that we kept our consistency up," he said. "There was no let up despite who was in the game. That says something about playing as a team. Our discipline was very good."
