The Chelsea Gallery is now three times as nice.

Owners Gary and Doris Galvin recently moved the popular gallery to 115 S. Main Street in Chelsea. The new location, almost three times as big as the former Chelsea Gallery, will have more art on display and offer framing and matting services in collaboration with Pictures Plus of Ann Arbor. There also will be a new cafe with an espresso bar and desserts. Wine also will be added to the menu in the future.
The Chelsea Gallery features original art work by approximately 70 regional artists and includes paintings in a variety of mediums and styles, forged iron, bronze sculptures, blown, fused and stained glass, pottery and handcrafted jewelry.
Doris Galvin wants people to have an "experience" when they visit the gallery.
"We want it to be a positive experience and a place where people can linger," Galvin said.
The espresso coffee is roasted locally by John Roos. The dessert menu includes chocolate raspberry desire, chocolate Melange and tiramisu.
The Chelsea Gallery also will be an exciting venue for elegant entertaining for receptions, business meetings and parties. All of the additions will compliment the primary business of providing fine original art by regional artists.
The Galvin's commitment to expanding should increase interest from not only a growing local customer base but also from as far away as Lansing, Toledo and Chicago – and everywhere in between. As the Chelsea Gallery expands and helps spur the growth of Chelsea as a burgeoning arts community, it will continue to serve both residential and commercial design clients with tailored solutions that include installation and on-site review services.
The Chelsea Gallery is now located across the street from the award-inning Common Grill and around the corner from the Broadway caliber Purple Rose Theatre – two establishments that already draw from near and far.
"We did not just move next door," Galvin explains. "The new area has more space, better lighting and a coffee bar. It is a great idea. Local artists have coffee and desert and enjoy the art."
