CEF raises $ for Chelsea
PUBLISHED: March 15, 2007
In a not so perfect economy, the Chelsea community still proved what makes Chelsea unique and special. The Chelsea Education Foundation held their annual Gala and Silent Auction on Feb. 24 to raise money that goes directly into Chelsea schools and other community projects.

"The gala was a big success," said President Owen Ballow. "Donations were up from last year as was attendance. The support from the Chelsea community continues to grow despite the economic conditions that effect southeast Michigan. Brian Braun (auctioneer) provided a lively and festive atmosphere during this year's live auction."
Not only was attendance up, but so was the final tally on donations. Sponsors and supporters raised more than $40,000 compared to $39,000 last year. The event was held at Reddeman Farms Country Club and included an evening of silent auctions, drawings, cocktails and a strolling dinner. The auction was followed by live music and dancing.
Chelsea Education Foundation provides funding for a wide spectrum of educational activities to benefit the residents of Chelsea. They are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Friends and supporters organized CEF in 1990 to provide a link between school, business and community to help strengthen Chelsea's future.
Contributions to CEF are given back to the Chelsea community through scholarships for area college students, grants to teachers and others with great ideas, and sponsorship of community forums on important topics. In the past year, they have invested more than $50,000 of contributors' money in worthy endeavors.
