Based on the diligent work and success of the book sales, the Friends of the Chelsea District Library donated to the McKune Memorial Library the amount of $8,495, of which $2,500 came from a Metro Detroit Book and Author Society grant and $5,995 is the Friends of the Chelsea District Library donation.
'Healthy Aging' seminar
It's never too late to begin taking care of yourself. Republicans to meet
The Western Washtenaw Republicans will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday on the second floor of the Clocktower Complex in downtown Chelsea.
CANOPAS demonstration
To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the United States' invasion of Iraq, CANOPAS (the Chelsea Area Network of Peace Activists and Supporters) will hold a peace demonstration from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 19 in front of the Post Office on Main Street in Chelsea. Bring a sign to hold, or choose from many signs already available. However, please do not bring signs with partisan political slogans.
UPS helping kids
The UPS Store located at 1163 S. Main Street has teamed up with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to announce its first year-round program for The Toys for Tots Literacy Program.
Drop by The UPS Store in Chelsea and donate a new children's book to support the Literacy Program.† The program is designed to help economically disadvantaged children succeed in life by providing them direct access to books and educational resources that will enhance their ability to read and to communicate effectively.
Throughout the year, The UPS Store will be selling $1 donation cards and for every dollar donated, a book will be placed into the hands of a deserving child in the area.†
