Chelsea's girls' basketball team used a 23-9 mid-game run to defeat visiting Ann Arbor Pioneer 42-32 last Friday.

The Pioneers opened the contest taking a 13-8 first quarter lead.
In the second quarter, however, the Bulldogs (8-10, 8-6 Southeastern Conference) responded outscoring Ann Arbor 16-8 entering the break with a 24-21 advantage.
In the third quarter, Chelsea hunkered down defensively, holding the Pioneers to only one point, while scoring seven points for a 31-22 lead heading into the fourth frame.
In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs sealed their victory netting 11 points, while limiting Ann Arbor to 10 points for the night's final margin.
Senior Annie Hollandsworth led Chelsea with 16 points.
Senior Brogan Darwin added 13 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist, while junior Erin Benjamin had six points, a team-high eight assists and two rebounds.
Senior Emily Rabbitt finished with four points, a team-high 11 rebounds and one steal, while junior Krystin Schwarze had two points, three rebounds and three assists and senior Anna Foley one point and one rebound for the Bulldogs.
On the boards, Chelsea out-rebounded the Pioneers 32-28.
From the floor, the Bulldogs finished 17-of-49 for 35 percent. Ann Arbor ended up 15-of-50 for 30 percent. From three-point land, Chelsea was 4-of-12 for 33 percent, while Pioneer was 0-of-10.
At the free throw line, the Bulldogs ended up 4-of-11 for 36 percent. Pioneer was 2-of-4 for 50 percent.
On Feb. 5, visiting Chelsea lost to Temperance Bedford 41-21.
The Mules led 7-4 after one quarter.
At halftime, Bedford continued leading 20-11.
In the third quarter, the Mules exploded for 18 points, while limiting the Bulldogs to only three points, taking a 38-14 advantage into the fourth stanza.
In the fourth quarter, Chelsea outscored Bedford 7-3 for the game's final margin.
Senior Nellie Daniels and Darwin paced the Bulldogs each scoring four points. Darwin also hauled down a team-high four rebounds.
Junior Megan Dunn, Schwarze and Hollandsworth each chipped in three points, while Rabbitt had two points and one board and senior Lizzy Bentley and Benjamin each netted one point for Chelsea.
From the field, the Bulldogs finished 7-of-32 for 22 percent. Bedford was 15-of-40 for 38 percent. From beyond the arc, Chelsea was 2-of-11 for 18 percent, while the Mules were 1-of-7 for 14 percent.
At the foul line, the Bulldogs ended up 5-of-9 for 56 percent. Bedford was 10-of-19 for 53 percent.
On the boards, the Mules out-rebounded Chelsea 25-20, including 11-9 on the offensive glass.
Bedford had 14 points in the paint, while the Bulldogs recorded eight points.
Chelsea had eight bench points.
The Bulldogs next travel to Adrian for a game Friday at 7 p.m.
On Monday, Chelsea opens Class B state playoff competition taking on host Milan at 7 p.m. If successful against the Big Reds, the Bulldogs would play Erie Mason Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The district championship game is Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Milan is hosting the district.
Other teams participating in the district include Ida, Monroe Jefferson and Onsted.
