Leading the Bulldogs was sophomore diver Michael Heydlauff who finished first in the one-meter event with a personal best score of 216.55 points. Junior Dominic Conybeare and junior Ryan Wrathall each posted personal best times in the 200 freestyle, while senior Todd Kruse had a personal best in the medley relay.
Last Saturday, Chelsea teamed with Tecumseh to face host Battle Creek Lakeview, ranked No. 1 in the state in Division 2, and St. Joseph in an East versus West type of dual meet. The West prevailed 847-644.
"Unfortunately, we were not able to repeat our win from last year," said Chelsea assistant coach Brian Thomas. "But we were able to see four great programs compete and have some great times."
Highlights of the meet for the Bulldogs included Kruse's personal best 1:00.89 in the 100 backstroke and Heydlauff's fifth-place finish in diving with a score of 318.40 points.
On Jan. 31, Chelsea lost to county rival Dexter 125-61.
"Not our greatest meet ever, but we did see some good swims from a few of the guys," Thomas said.
Wrathall recorded a personal best 5:34.27 in the 500 freestyle, while freshman diver Colby Wrathall had a personal best score of 144.95 points to place third for the Bulldogs.
"I think we were struggling to get back from our team sickness and Dexter just had more healthy guys than we did," Thomas said.
Chelsea next hosts Ypsilanti Lincoln Friday at 6:30 p.m.
