Beach tops Saline in OT

Chelsea's Beach Middle School eighth-grade Gold boys' basketball team defeated Saline Gold 20-18 in overtime. Jan. 10 in its season finale.

Jack McDougall led the Bulldogs (9-3) with 12 points.
Jake Fischhaber and Adam Burman each netted four points. Alex Stock, Cody Ellyson and Mike Zink each added two points for Beach.
"We were able to survive a few unlucky bounces and capitalize on their aggressive defense by taking the ball to the basket," said Chelsea coach Brian Sayers.
On Jan. 9, host Chelsea beat Adrian White 20-13.
Fischhaber paced the Bulldogs with 12 points.
Ellyson chipped in seven points, while McDougall had four points.
Truman Hadley added three points, while Andy Cervany, Nathaniel England, Sean O'Quinn and Mason Wagner each had two points for Beach.
On Jan. 8, Chelsea defeated visiting Dexter Maroon 23-19.
"We were able to execute just well enough to win," Sayers said.
McDougall finished with 12 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Fischhaber ended up with 11 points, while Alex Stock had five points and Cervany four points for Beach.
Robert Hughes had three points, while Burman and Hadley had two points and O'Quinn had one point for Chelsea.
"This is a great class and I look forward to seeing what they can do in the next four years," Sayers said.
Chelsea's Beach Middle School seventh-grade Blue boys' basketball team lost to host Saline Blue 16-12 Jan. 10.
Logan Brown led the Bulldogs with seven points.
Michael Steinhauer added three points, while Luke Hollandsworth had two points for Beach.
"It was an exciting game from start to finish versus a talented Saline team," said Chelsea coach Mike Bareis. "Ian Shackleford and Tony Vermilye played outstanding defense for the Bulldogs."
On Jan. 9, host Chelsea defeated Dexter 25-10.
Steinhauer led the Bulldogs with eight points.
Brown added six points, while Hollandsworth had three points.
Adrian Schuh, Kevin Fournier and Tony Vermilye each had two points.
"It was an outstanding victory for our team," Bareis said. "The entire roster played aggressive, fast-paced basketball throughout the whole game."
