Beach takes on rival Dexter in pool

Chelsea's Beach Middle School swimming and diving team opened its season losing to rival Dexter 138-32 Dec. 19.

"Dexter really has a great program going on right now," said Chelsea coach Dave Brinklow. "They are solid from their age group program through the high school level and that sure showed today. The most points that can be scored in a middle school meet is 140 and they scored 138. That says a lot for their program."
The visiting Bulldogs' best finish on the day was the foursome of Ross Argir, Andrew Wickens, Hannah Olsen and Jaclyn Murphy who placed second in the 200 freestyle relay.
In the 200 medley relay, the Beach group of Alexis Roberts, Argir, Olsen and Wickens touched fourth, while Bourke Lodewyk, Katie Frankhart, Phillip Arbogast-Wilson and Shelby Collins placed fifth.
In the 200 freestyle, Murphy finished fourth, while Joe Haroney was fifth and Jacob Bogarin sixth for Chelsea.
Laura Lodewyk ended up fourth in the 100 individual medley, while Arbogast-Wilson was fifth and Anna Helvey sixth for the Bulldogs.
Wickens touched fourth in the 50 freestyle, while Olsen was fifth and Argir sixth for Beach.
Cody Wrathall finished fourth in diving, while Zach Petoskey was fifth.
Olsen ended up fourth in the 50 butterfly, while Wickens was fifth and Laura Lodewyk sixth for Chelsea.
In the 100 freestyle, Murphy placed fourth, while Bogarin was fifth and Collins sixth.
In the 200 freestyle relay, the Bulldog quartet of Kelly O'Keefe, Chris McQuarrie, Mackenzie Cole and Collins finished fifth. Ashley Chrisman, Clara Erickson, Helvey and Petoskey ended up sixth for Beach.
Haroney finished fourth in the 100 backstroke, while Roberts was fifth and Frankhart sixth.
In the 100 breaststroke, O'Keefe placed fourth, while Argir was fifth and Arbogast-Wilson sixth for Chelsea.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the Bulldog team of Murphy, Bogarin, Roberts and Haroney placed fourth. Cole, Frankhart, Collins and Helvey touched fifth, while Bourke Lodewyk, Petoskey, Chrisman and Erickson finished sixth for Beach.
Chelsea next hosts Adrian Blue Wednesday at 4 p.m.
