The Bulldogs (5-3, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) led 34-31 at halftime.
In the fourth quarter, Chelsea outscored Brighton 16-11 to secure its victory.
"Our offense played really well," said Chelsea coach Robin Raymond. "We were patient against their zone. We looked for the open shot. Brighton played a match-up zone. We were able to adjust to it. We had good ball movement."
The Bulldogs received balanced scoring as four players scored in double figures.
Junior Michael Roberts led Chelsea with 11 points. Senior Elliot Marshall, senior Greg Rebuldela and junior Michael Stratman each added 10 points.
Senior Stu Mann and senior Matt Schwarze each recorded eight points, while sophomore Tyler Zegarzewski had five points for the Bulldogs.
Chelsea shot well from the free throw line, draining 17-of-19, including 12-of-12 in the fourth quarter, for 89 percent overall. Brighton was 16-of-19 for 84 percent.
On the boards, Zegarzewski led the Bulldogs with 10 rebounds. Mann hauled down eight rebounds.
On Jan. 3, host Chelsea beat Ypsilanti Lincoln 70-61.

Schwarze was unstoppable for the Bulldogs against the Railsplitters, finishing with a game-high 27 points, including going 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. Schwarze was so good against Lincoln he even swished a shot from half court as the buzzer sounded to end the first half.
"His seven triples ties a school record," Raymond said. "He was also 6-of-6 from the line. Matt's a good shooter. Lincoln left the back side wing open, and we were able to find the open man."
Junior Jake Mantel added 10 points and six rebounds for Chelsea.
On Dec. 27 through 28, the Bulldogs hosted their own Holiday Tournament.
In the tournament title game, Chelsea lost to Jackson 59-54.
With four minutes left, the Bulldogs trailed 51-50.

Rebuldela led Chelsea with 15 points and six boards. Mantel added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
"That was Greg's (Rebuldela) best game of the season," Raymond said. "He was a huge factor on the offensive end."
To open the tournament, the Bulldogs beat Howell 67-37.
Roberts paced Chelsea with 15 points. Mantel again had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Stratman had 12 points and six boards.
"Mantel did a great job rebounding," Raymond said. "Our defense forced seven turnovers in the second quarter that resulted in easy baskets at the other end."
